Install help
If macOS blocks Peeka
The first time you open it, macOS may say “Peeka” Not Opened. This is expected for apps from independent developers that aren't notarized yet. You only need to do this once.
Option 1Allow it in System Settings
- 1When the warning appears, click Done.
- 2Open System Settings › Privacy & Security.
- 3Scroll to Security and click Open Anyway.
- 4Confirm with Open Anyway and your password or Touch ID.
On macOS 14 Sonoma you can also Control-click Peeka in Applications and choose Open.
Option 2One command in Terminal
Prefer the keyboard? After dragging Peeka to Applications, open Terminal, paste this and press Return. It removes the download quarantine flag from Peeka only.
xattr -cr /Applications/Peeka.app
Why does this happen?
Apple asks developers to pay a yearly fee to notarize their apps. Peeka is made by one independent developer and is signed, just not notarized yet. You can check the SHA-256 above against your download.
